2017-18 All-Metro Basketball Team

First Team

Co-Captain: Akol Arop, Omaha Creighton Prep

The 6'5" junior forward controlled the paint for Prep in a state championship season. With a total of 399 points scored on the year, Arop averaged 16 points per game and shot 66% from the floor. He also grabbed a total of 242 rebounds in 25 games, averaging 9.7. Arop also made an appearance on SportsCenter this season, featuring his massive windmill dunk.

Co-Captain: Tyrell Carroll, Millard South

The senior guard led Millard South to a 17-8 season and an overtime upset in the first round of the state tournament over top-seed Omaha Central. Carroll scored 416 points in 23 appearances this year for an average of 18.1 points per game. He also led the team in assists with 5.9 per game, and was second-best in rebounding with 5.7 per game.

Shereef Mitchell, Omaha Burke

Mitchell, a senior guard this year, led the Bulldogs to the second-seed in district A-2 despite NSAA disciplinary sanctions that forced them to forfeit five games. He scored a total of 214 points in 25 appearances this season for an average of 24.6 and also tacked on 3.8 assists per game.

Cedric Johnson, Bellevue West

The 6'2" senior out of Bellevue helped lead this year's Thunderbirds squad to a state runner-up trophy. He put up 441 points in 27 appearances along with 163 rebounds for an average of 16.3 and 6.0 per game.

Tre’Vion Crawford, Omaha Bryan

The senior forward has been through it all with Omaha Bryan, leading the way to a 2018 state tournament appearance with 17.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He also led the Bears on the defensive end this season.

Reserves

Sixth Man: Roman Behrens, Omaha Central

Behrens, a senior guard who went through a coaching change at the end of last year that resulted in his father at the helm, led the Eagles to a 24-3 season and the first-seed in the state tournament. He dropped a total of 442 points and 190 assists in 27 appearances for an average of 16.4 and 7.0, respectively.

Jadin Booth, Omaha Westside

Booth, a sophomore at Westside, led the Warriors to an 11-13 season and a district final appearance. He scored 482 points in a total of 24 appearances this season for an average of 20.1, one of only two double-digit averages for the Warriors on the season.

Nick Ferrarini, Millard North

The senior guard from out west led the Mustangs, who played one of the toughest schedules in the state, to a 12-12 year. He averaged 21.1 points and 5.3 rebounds, and broke multiple school records along the way including career points scored and career three point shots.

Tuach Dol, Papillion-La Vista South

An injury-stricken, 6’8” senior forward, Dol led the Titans to an underwhelming 10-13 season alongside Lok Wur, his 6’8” counterpart. He scored 291 total points in just 17 appearances and also brought down 157 rebounds. That is an average of 17.1 points and 9.1 rebounds.

Chucky Hepburn, Bellevue West

As a freshman guard, Hepburn battled the tested waters this season. Hepburn appeared in 27 games for the state runner-up and scored a total of 368 points, averaging 13.6 per game. Along with averaging 4.4 rebounds per game, Hepburn also racked up 123 assists throughout the season for an average of 4.6.
