The Bellevue West Thunderbirds hosted Omaha Westside in the NSAA District A-5 championship on Monday. After the game was tied at 40 with four minutes to play, the Thunderbirds surged to earn a 61-52 victory. Freshman guard Chucky Hepburn led Bellevue West with 15 points, Cedric Johnson put up 13, and Nico Felici recorded 11. Jadin Booth put up 30 points for Omaha Westside in his sophomore finale. Thunderbird head coach Doug Woodard said there is no feeling like cutting down the nets.

"It's great to see the joy that it brings to kids," Woodard said. "It doesn't get old. It's a lot better than not doing it."

Bellevue West returns to Lincoln for the 11th time since the turn of the century and the 15th time in program history.
