Class A Power Rankings: Week 8
10. Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks (12-6, 5)
Lincoln Southwest lost at Omaha Bryan (13-4) by a 55-50 score and beat Omaha Westside (7-10) by a 66-65 score in overtime this week. They’re led by JaQuaylon Mays, who averages 16.1 points per game, and Colin Kohl, who averages 12.1.
9. Omaha Burke Bulldogs (14-5, 7)
The Bulldogs lost to Bellevue West (2-5) by a 74-52 score on Friday, and they beat Papillion-La Vista South (8-7), 63-49 Saturday. They’re led by Shereef Mitchell at 25.2 points per game.
8. Lincoln Pius X Thunderbolts (11-6, 6)
The Thunderbolts went 1-1 last week, losing to Omaha Skutt (14-3), 62-56, and beating Omaha North (2-13) 63-53. Lincoln Pius X has won seven of their last eight games. They’re led by Charlie Easley at 17.2 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
7. Kearney Bearcats (13-5, 10)
Drake Beranek’s squad beat Lincoln High (9-9), 63-38, and Omaha South (4-12), 53-41, this week. They’re led by Kanon Koster with 23.4 points and seven rebounds per game.
6. Bellevue West (12-5, 9)
The Thunderbirds picked up a win over Omaha Burke (14-5) on Friday, 74-52, and Lincoln Northeast (0-18) on Saturday, 68-51. They’re led by three players averaging double digits with Cedric Johnson at the helm with 16.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
5. Millard South (12-3, 8)
The Patriots went 2-0 this weekend with a win over Lincoln North Star (8-9) by way of a 58-45 score, and a win over Lincoln East (16-1) by way of a 58-51 score. They have three players that average in double digits, but Kyle Perry leads the way with 23.5 points per game.
4. Omaha Bryan Bears (13-4, 3)
The Bears won a game over Lincoln Southwest (12-6) by a 55-50 score, and they lost at Millard North (8-9) by a 73-66 score. They’re led by Tre Crawford with 18.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
3. Omaha Central Eagles (16-4, 4)
The Eagles swept the week by way of an 86-67 win over Omaha Benson (0-15) and a 57-48 victory at Lincoln Southeast (4-14). The Eagles are led by Jay Pal with 12.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game as well as Roman Behrens at 15.7 points and 7.3 assists per game.
2. Lincoln East Spartans (16-1, 1)
The Spartans went 1-1 after enduring their first loss this weekend beginning with a 64-49 win over Papillion-La Vista (9-8) on Friday, and a 58-51 loss to Millard South (12-3) on Saturday. The Spartans shoot 50% on the season, and they’re led by Sam Griesel at 18.3 points per game.
1. Creighton Prep Jr. Jays (16-1, 2)
Creighton Prep won on the road on Friday at Omaha Northwest (3-14) by a 90-42 score, and they took down Lincoln North Star (8-9) Saturday by a 62-35 score. They’re led by Jaylin Hunter at 16.5 points per game in his six appearances and Akol Arop at 16 points and 10.9 boards per game.
